புனிதர்பட்டம்: 12 நவம்பர் 1989 திருத்தந்தை 2 ஆம் ஜான் பால்
இவர் பியோம் அரசர் முதலாம் ஒட்டோகர் என்பவரின் மகள். இவர் இளம் வயதிலிருக்கும்போதே 2 முறை திருமணம் செய்வதற்கு நிச்சயமானவர். முதல் முறை போலேஸ்லவ்ஸ் Boleslaus என்பவருடனும், இரண்டாம் முறை அரசர் 2 ஆம் பிரிட்ரிக் Friedrich II என்பவருக்கும் மண ஒப்பந்தமானவர். ஆனால் இரு முறையும் அரசியல் காரணமாக திருமணம் நடைபெறாமல் போனது. ஆக்னெஸ் தன் திருமணம் நடைபெறக்கூடாது என இறைவனிடம் இடைவிடாமல் வேண்டினார். அதன்படியே அவரின் விருப்பத்தை இறைவன் நிறைவேற்றினார். இதனால் ஆக்னெஸ் மிக மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தார்.
இவர் புனித பிரான்சிஸ் அசிசியாரின் வாழ்வை முன் மாதிரியாகக் கொண்டு வாழ்ந்தார். புனித கிளாராவின் நட்பைப் பெற்று வாழ்ந்தார் என்று அவரே எழுதிய கடிதங்கள் விளக்குகின்றது. இவர் மீண்டும் அரசர் 2 ஆம் பிரட்ரிக் அல்லது அரசர் 2 ஆம் ஹென்றி இவர்களுள் ஒருவரை திருமணம் செய்யவேண்டிய கட்டாயச் சூழ்நிலை உண்டானது. இதனால் 1234 ஆம் ஆண்டு தனது அரசிக்குரிய கிரீடத்தை பெற்றார். இக்கிரீடத்தை பெற்றபோது தான் ஓர் கிளரீசியன் துறவி என்று தனக்குள் கூறிக்கொண்டு வார்த்தைப்பாடுகளைப்பெற்றார்.
இவர் தனது அரசிக்குரிய சொத்துக்கள், உடைமைகள் அனைத்தையும் கொண்டு, தேவாலயங்களுக்கும், துறவற இல்லங்களுக்கும் உதவினார். இவர் இறந்தபிறகு ஏராளமான புதுமைகளைச் செய்தார்.

St. Agnes of Bohemia
She was born on June 20, 1211 in a royal family. Her father was King Ottokar-I of Bohemia and mother Constance of Hungary, the sister of King Andrew-II of Hungary. When she was three years old she was engaged to one Boleslaus but Boleslaus died. Then she was engaged to Henry, son of the Emperor Frederick-II, when she was nine years old. But Henry instead of marrying Agnes, he married the daughter of the Duke of Austria. After these failed engagements, Agnes offered herself to God and vowed to live a life of austerity and virginity. She was a descendent of St. Ludmila and St. Wenceslaus. She sought help from pope Gregory-IX for her spiritual life. She founded a hospital of St. Francis on the land donated by her brother King Wenceslaus-I of Bohemia. She also constructed a convent for the Friars Minor in Prague. She became a member of the Franciscan Poor Clares in 1236. As a nun she took care of lepers and other poor people. She even personally cooked for these poor people, even after becoming the Abbess of the Prague Clares. She organized a group of people dedicated to nursing known as knights of the Cross with a Red Star. She died on March 2, 1282.
She was beatified by pope Pius-IX in 1874 and canonized by pope John Paul-II on November 12, 1989 at Rome, a few days before the non-violent revolution in Czechoslovakia called Velvet Revolution that over threw the communist Government there.
